摘要: Pigment epithelial cells of the frog's retina have been examined by methods electron microscopy with special attention focused on fine structure endoplasmic reticulum and myeloid bodies. These cells, as reported previously, send apical prolongations into spaces between rod outer segments, within these extensions, pigment migrates in response to light stimulation. The cytoplasm is filled a compact lattice membrane-limited tubules, surfaces which are smooth or particle-free. In this respect, here resembles that encountered produce lipid-rich secretions. bodies comprise paired membranes arranged stacks shaped like biconvex lenses. At their margins continuous elements ER consequence body referred differentiation reticulum. resemble thickness spacings those make up segments; they therefore regarded intracellular photoreceptors possible significance activation migration other physiologic functions cells. fuscin granules enclosed also ER. seem move independently contained. report describes terminal bar apparatus, fibrous layer intervening epithelium choroid blood vessels, comments organelles depicted.
