摘要: Haematological changes were monitored in Gobra-Zebu and N'Dama bulls following infection with Trypanosoma congolense. The cattle offered a diet which provided levels of protein energy above maintenance requirement pair feeding regimen was used order to eliminate the confounding anorexic effects trypanosomosis on traits studied. Packed red cell volume (PCV), blood cells (RBC) haemoglobin (Hb) weekly. Mean corpuscular (MCH), mean concentration (MCHC), (MCV) derived by computation. Significant breed differences (P < 0.001) observed baseline data collected having higher values for RBC Hb. PCV similar both breeds pre-infection. Post-infection, there significant effect RBC, Hb breeds. pathogenic more severe where three out ten compared only one eight infected attained low threshold, treated withdrawn from study along their mates. Throughout during first 6 weeks bulls, presented normochromic normocytic anaemia. However, chronic phase, became macrocytic. reduced total dry matter intake although this persisted longer Gobra-Zebus. pair-fed controls showed no haematological indicating that anorexia not compounding infection. severity type anaemia correlates innate ability resist trypanosome bulls.
