摘要: The antiherpes effects of the crude extract obtained from Ilex paraguariensis leaves (yerba mate) and their purified fractions were investigated. most active fraction was selected assayed to determine viral multiplication steps upon which it acted. In order detect major components this fraction, thin layer chromatography (TLC) analysis performed. antiviral activity evaluated against HSV-1 HSV-2 by a plaque number reduction assay (IC(50) ) cytotoxicity MTT (CC(50) ). According results, all tested samples showed at noncytotoxic concentrations, ethyl acetate (SI = CC(50) /IC(50) = 188.7 264.7 for HSV-2, respectively). results also demonstrated that exerts infectivity, inhibition virus entry into cells cell-to-cell spread, as well impaired levels ICP27, ICP4, gD gE proteins HSV-1. TLC contains monodesmosidic triterpenoid saponins, matesaponin-1 (a bidesmosidic one), caffeic chlorogenic acids rutin, suggests they could act synergistically be responsible detected activity.
