摘要: Rock cliffs and shore platforms are linked components of the world's coastal zone. Understanding dynamics their relationships has been hindered by often imperceptible changes that occur within human time scales. The Cretaceous Chalk coasts northwest Europe, particularly those southeast England, among most dynamic, intensively studied, cliffed rock in world. Perceptible to both have measured on monthly, seasonal, annual decadal Through a review previously published data addition not published, average cliff retreat rates calculated as 0.49 0.38 m y-1 platform erosion 3.999 3.208 mm y-1. This paper highlights some interactions over space between process measurement continue limit our understanding coasts; particular link erosion. It concludes identifying fruitful areas for future research. Keywords: coast, cliff, platform, Chalk, erosion, weathering
