摘要: This paper focuses on population mobility dynamics in and around mining areas the Peruvian Andes. We use a case study of Rio Tinto's La Granja exploration project Cajamarca Region to highlight complexity fluidity movements that significant level agency exercised by local people, as well how people have been impacted corporate decisions. argue that, far from being relatively static system social production relationships, Andes has long place movement, where individuals families used broad range strategies improve their economic well-being mitigate impact external shocks. In Granja, such helped cope with variations activity, maintain connection area (even while living outside it), access project-related benefits jobs compensation payments. At some points history project, decisions actions had clearly deleterious community. However, more recent times also revitalised place, at least for time, created new opportunities families. final section paper, we address broader questions about role spatial family networks can play diffusing impacts projects.
