摘要: We performed magnetic resonance imaging on sixty-seven individuals who had never low-back pain, sciatica, or neurogenic claudication. The scans were interpreted independently by three neuro-radiologists no knowledge about the presence absence of clinical symptoms in subjects. About one-third subjects found to have a substantial abnormality. Of those less than sixty years old, 20 per cent herniated nucleus pulposus and one spinal stenosis. In group that was old older, findings abnormal 57 scans: 36 21 There degeneration bulging disc at least lumbar level 35 between twenty thirty-nine all but eighty-year-old view these asymptomatic subjects, we concluded abnormalities images must be strictly correlated with age any signs before operative treatment is contemplated.
