摘要: We present the first systematic study of transmission low energy oxygen ions ([lt]10 eV) through ultrathin films Ar, Kr, and Xe. For rare gas adsorbed on an oxidized W(100) surface, we find that a small fraction O[sup +] can penetrate more than 5 ML thick Kr The attenuation is strongest for Ar overlayers. attribute attenutation to elastic scattering mainly with atoms. suggest structural characteristics this surface are cause in 1-2 monolayers.
