摘要: We propose a switch, suitable for an integrated local communications network, that will support packet switching and circuit switching, with wide range of bit rates. Key components are two serial memories; multiplicity access units, each capable writing reading uniformly formatted, addressed information; programmed controller. Circuit is achieved when the controller repeatedly allocates memory slots, following call setup. Data can proceed concurrently without setup, competing unused slots. give example 10,000-telephone-line switch carrying similar load other traffic. The would delay voice by less than 5 ms could be interfaced to existing telephone system. indicate method fault detection isolation limit impact failure on arbitrarily small group connected lines. define index measuring use it derive most-favorable fault-isolating partitions.
