A Multiquantum-Dot-Doped Fiber Amplifier With Characteristics of Broadband, Flat Gain, and Low Noise

摘要: Doped with PbSe nanocrystals of different sizes, a multiquantum-dot-doped fiber amplifier (MQDFA) is proposed. Performance the MQDFA simulated by solving light-propagation equations and rate for three-level system, applying superposed emission-absorption cross sections quantum dots (QDs). Pumped 980 nm, this proposed has characteristics broader band, flatter gain, lower noise than those erbium-doped amplifiers at present. There evidence to show that two factors, i.e., equivalent Stokes shifts full wave half maximum spectra, dominate performances MQDFA. Also, shift FWHM are tunable adopting QDs in sizes choosing doped number available. It expected such may be able cover all waveband telecommunications if it optimized on number, concentrations QDs.
