Postimplantation morphologic changes of glutaraldehyde-fixed porcine aortic roots and risk of aneurysm and rupture

摘要: Objective Rupture of glutaraldehyde-fixed porcine aortic roots has been reported, but the mechanism and incidence this complication is unknown. This study evaluates clinical outcomes risk dilation rupture after implantation. Methods Commercially available were used for root replacement in 308 patients (Freestyle bioprosthesis [Medtronic, Minneapolis, Minn] 251 Toronto Root [St Jude Medical, St Paul, 57 patients) whose mean age was 62 ± 13 years. At 8 years, patients' survival 79.0% 3.1%, freedom from reoperation 95.3% 1.7%, severe insufficiency 93.8% 2.7%. sinuses increased 31.9 4.3 to 34.1 4.8 mm ( P Conclusions Mild common, aneurysm formation are rare during first decade follow-up. Annual surveillance with echocardiography recommended.
