摘要: The influence of dietary phytoestrogens provided by Western diets on mammographic density is not well established. Soy and soy products as source isoflavones were found to be inversely associated with high density, a marker for breast cancer risk. Another class phytoestrogens, the lignans, which are more frequent in diets, rarely investigated. Within European Prospective Investigation into Cancer Nutrition cohort Heidelberg (EPIC-Heidelberg) we explored feasibility mammogram collection measurement order investigate association between phytoestrogen intake patterns. Wolfe classification was used summarize density. Dietary habits assessed means validated food frequency questionnaire. - Out 505 randomly selected women, 317 (63%) returned questionnaire 310 (61.4%) women informed consent collect mammograms. seven dense patterns (DY) compared 47 without A fibre (p-value = 0.008) secoisolariciresinol 0.043) non-dense This also observed soy-products 0.004) and, tendency, genistein 0.069). After adjustment energy age groups different regarding carbohydrate (p 0.032), 0.020), 0.046), 0.027). Our results suggest an inverse lignan similar findings isoflavones. To our knowledge this first report association, but due risk chance finding, has confirmed study sufficient statistical power.
