Modified neck dissection in treatment of thyroid cancer: A safe procedure

摘要: Differentiated carcinoma of the thyroid metastasizes early and frequently to cervical lymph nodes. Radical neck dissection performed electively or therapeutically results in high cure rates. Modified consisting a single transverse incision, resection jugular chain nodes those posterior triangle with preservation sternomastoid muscle, spinal accessory nerve submandibular salivary gland provides cosmetic, functional result minimal morbidity. In series 313 dissections for carcinoma, only three patients papillary follicular which was resectable, treated by thyroidectomy modified died disease.
