摘要: • Previous reports have indicated that tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) induce mania, but the studies suffer from lack of control groups. This study included 137 unipolar and 157 bipolar patients, all having two or more admissions to same hospital. In many cases, patients were treated at one time with TCAs another no somatic therapy all. Most who switched (20/23) bipolar. Twenty-seven receiving treatment had a 41% switch rate (rate/person). They 32 admissions, while was 34% (rate/admission). Twenty-six tricyclics 28% rate; for these, there 30 23%. Thus, it appears induction mania by is not greater than what would expect natural history illness itself. Validity these findings attested fact lithium carbonate neuroleptic treatment, as expected, significantly prevented mania.
