摘要: Oxidative effects via free radical generation in smokers have been widely investigated. They cause lipid peroxidation, oxidation of proteins and damage to mainly lung other tissues. In humans, antioxidative capacity serum is related antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) melatonin. The effect cigarette smoking on plasma levels melatonin has not established together yet. Also, it may be clear if are affected by a protective smoking-induced damage. aim this study investigate the relationship between including melatonin, powerful endogenous antioxidant, teenage girls who active smokers. Additionally, malondialdehyde (MDA) were determined those smoked at least one packet day for three or more years. MDA used as convenient index peroxidation-related oxidative Twenty-one young female School Nursing 21 nonsmoking students (as controls) same school included study. activities two principal SOD, GSH-Px significantly increased but content blood was decreased compared nonsmokers. spite an increase enzyme activities, slightly This indicates that self-defence mechanisms sufficiently protect respiratory system from smoke-mediated injury. result low It seems can reduce induced smoke. Further experimental investigations with exogenous treatments will needed.
