摘要: Many tiers of immune defenses harmoniously interact to provide a sanctuary against infections. The ability perceive microorganisms and their products as foreign entities is embodied in lymphocytes, which serve both effector regulatory functions. Through the elaboration cytokines immunoglobulins, lymphocytes recruit nonspecific effectors, focus activity, modulate intensity response. phylogenically more primitive complement system serves similar function. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection responsible for large numbers immunocompromised patients worldwide (Rubin Lotze 1992). Due pandemic nature HIV infection, encompasses majority United States world, emphasis this chapter on infection.
