摘要: Abstract The Southeastern United States has a robust broiler industry that generates substantial quantities of poultry litter as waste. It historically been applied to pastures close production facilities, but pollution watersheds with litter-derived phosphorus and lesser extent nitrogen have led voluntary in some areas regulatory restrictions on application rates pastures. Loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) forests are often located proximity these benefit from improved nutrition. Accordingly, loblolly may serve alternative land for application. However, information the influence repeated applications forest N P dynamics is lacking. Results three individual ongoing studies were summarized understand effects applications, rates, use types (loblolly pasture) soil water. Each study was established at one locations Western Gulf Coastal Plain region. Annual increased test accumulation surface soils all studies, magnitude increase positively linearly correlated frequencies. In site relatively high concentrations prior application, five annual 5 Mg ha−1 20 Mg ha−1 also subsurface depth up 45 cm. Soil accumulations greater stands than when both received similar which monitored dynamics, lower organic N, potential net mineralization, nitrification, water found after two applications. increases more pronounced pasture soils. plantations can be viable rate frequency well differences nutrient cycling between important considerations environmentally sound management decisions.
