摘要: Objective Opioid analgesics are often prescribed following rhinology surgery. This study aimed to evaluate whether the quantity of opioid is justified. Methods Patients were asked about their pain management post-operatively. Parameters recorded included: current (using a 10-point Likert scale); type operation; prescribed; and tablets taken other methods relief used. Results Thirty-five patients successfully contacted. The median score at one week post-operation was 1 (interquartile range, 0–3). Of these 35 patients, 16 opioids, whilst 19 not. opioids took 8 0.8–10.5) out 28 prescribed. Conclusion shows that post-operative does not compare with amount consumed by relieve pain, resulting in surplus medication which has potential be abused.
