摘要: We report a study of 73 consecutive children with acute cerebellar ataxia, representing all the evaluated at St. Louis Children's Hospital during 23-year-period to whom this diagnosis could appropriately be assigned. Twenty-six percent had chickenpox, 52% other illnesses that were presumed viral, and in 3% ataxia was related immunization. Nineteen no definite prodrome. Sixty followed for 4 months or longer after onset their (mean, 7.4 +/- 6.0 years). Ninety-one (55/60) these, including recovered completely from ataxia. Eighty-nine (39/44) non-varicella-related much better rate recovery than what found prior large studies. One fifth more experienced transient behavioral intellectual difficulties, but only 5 60 demonstrated sustained learning problems.
