摘要: Protein U is a spore coat protein produced at the late stage of development Myxococcus xanthus. This was isolated from developmental cells, and its amino-terminal sequence determined. On basis this sequence, gene for (pru) cloned DNA determined, revealing an open reading frame 179 codons. The product has typical signal peptide 25 amino acid residues terminal end, followed by 154 residues. result indicates that as secretory precursor, pro-protein U, which then secreted across membrane to assemble on surface. in sharp contrast S, major early development, no peptide, indicating there are two distinct pathways trafficking proteins during differentiation M.
