摘要: The discovery of Helicobacter pylori has already changed the natural history peptic ulcer disease, with most patients being cured at their first presentation. Similarly, incidence gastric cancer and other diseases related to H. are likely be greatly reduced in near future. Isolation spiral intragastric bacterium totally reversed false dogma that stomach was sterile, it taught us chronic infectious disease can still exist modern society. pylori’s unique location, persistence, evasion immune system offer important insights into pathophysiology gut. Also, fact overlooked for so long encourages think “outside box” when investigating obscure etiologies. We should consider such provocative scientific ideas as bridges future control.
