摘要: Earlier data from experiments in rats have shown that administration of retinyl esters (vitamin A) strongly influences the effects CCl4 on liver. The accumulation collagen was inhibited, but an increase CCl4-toxicity with high mortality observed. present study conducted to examine beta-carotene (provitamin CCl4-related general and hepatic toxicity rats. Oral during CCl4-treatment resulted, biochemically, a significantly lower hydroxyproline liver content and, histopathologically, less severe fibrosis as compared not treated beta-carotene. also showed could prevent long-term loss retinoids CCl4-injured No significant toxic beta-carotene, previously found A), were This experimental suggests has therapeutic potential decrease severity without marked toxicity.
