摘要: The relative roles of acetate and leucine in the provision a carbon source for fatty acid sterol biosynthesis several trypanosomatid species were investigated using 14C- 13C-labelled acetate, glucose as substrates. Promastigotes Leishmania synthesized large proportion their from leucine. L. major (LV39), amazonensis mexicana most efficient utilizers leucine, producing at least 70–77% leucine; braziliensis, donovani tropica apparently produced less (23–36%) (LV561), adleri panamamensis intermediate, utilizing to provide 51–58% sterol. In all cases balance was arising acetate. related Endotrypanum monterogeii also amount (77%) its rather than By contrast Trypanosoma cruzi elaborated only 8% used far more effectively biosynthesis. moieties triacylglycerols phospholipids Leucine incorporated into acids varying extents different organisms showing that can be metabolized trypanosomatids generate acetyl-CoA.
