Theory of magnetic neutron spectroscopy for Pr3+ and Tm3+

摘要: Motivated by recent data on the strongly inelastic magnetic neutron scattering spectrum of praseodymium and thulium metal, over a wide range energy wave vector kappa transfers, authors have calculated corresponding for both ions -dependence relevant structure factors. The model includes seven lowest states their mixing spin-orbit coupling: results differ from previous calculations f2/f12 state this is attributed to mixed phase conventions base used representation matrix interaction. Comparison correct with existing beam shows satisfactory agreement; remaining discrepancies are potentially interesting shortcomings an isolated ion rare earth metals. unintentional exercise using incorrect functions underlines sensitivity factors features functions.
