摘要: The dramatic rise in unemployment the 1970s and 1980s has led to an increase research into possible effects of on health. Studies job loss are difficult interpret because difficulty ruling out selection effects--for example, least fit may be more likely made redundant. study factory closures is appealing since all employees redundant studies closure recorded Index Medicus 1980 reviewed. None fulfil criteria for ideal study, most fail several counts. small sample sizes often unavoidable, but lack awareness results a biased control group only those people who economically active. Also, short duration follow up restricts detection long term Thus conclusions that can drawn about health limited.
