摘要: Abstract Objective To investigate the relationship between smoking status and exercise capacity, physical activity in daily life health-related quality of physically independent, elderly (≥60 years) individuals. Design Cross-sectional, observational study. Setting Community-dwelling, Participants One hundred fifty-four individuals were categorised into four groups according to their status: never smokers ( n = 57), passive = 30), ex-smokers = 45) current = 22). Main outcome measures Exercise capacity [6-minute walk test (6MWT)], (step counting) [36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) questionnaire] assessed. Results Current had lower mean compared with smokers: 90 [standard deviation (SD) 10] % predicted, 91 (SD 12) predicted 100 13) distance on 6MWT, respectively [mean differences −9.8%, 95% confidence intervals (CI) −17.8 −1.8 −9.1%, CI −15.4 −2.7, respectively; P r = −0.47, = 0.03). The median score for mental health dimension SF-36 was worse {72 [interquartile range (IQR) 56 96] points} [76 (IQR 55 80) points] [88 70 100) (median −16 points, −22.2 −3.0 −12 −22.8 −2.4, Conclusions Among individuals, than smokers. Although level did not differ groups, an association found smoking. Tobacco exposure associated scores
