摘要: Paraquat, an oxygen radical-generating agent, is a widely used agrochemical that also toxic for humans, in whom it may cause respiratory failure. In the present study, we investigated effect of deferoxamine (DF), iron chelator with antioxidant capacity, on paraquat toxicity vitamin E-deficient rats. After administration at dose 20 mg/kg animals were treated continuous intravenous infusion DF 14 days. dose-response four six receiving 100 mg DF/kg/24 h survived study period days compared none saline-treated control group (n = 6), and three two groups 50 6) 200 respectively. another series experiments, monitored total 35 days, which time any survivors killed, lung histologic examination was carried out. Deferoxamine treatment started simultaneously 21), 6 18), 16 18) after poisoning. Percent survival various time-point 47.7 (p less than 0.01), 38.9 0.02), 22.2 (not significant), respectively, 7.1 14) group. The presence damage seen only those surviving rats where point administration. ancillary vitro studies, Escherichia coli as source enzymic activity redox-cycling paraquat, completely inhibited formation hydroxyl radical (.OH).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
