摘要: Abstract The Lake Suigetsu 2006 Varved Sediment Core Project (SG06 Project) aims to contribute the international terrestrial radiocarbon calibration model, extending it >50,000 cal years BP using new SG06 sediment record, which shows annual laminations (varves) for most of this period. For varve counting, a novel approach high resolution X-ray fluorescence (μXRF) and X-radiography was applied, described here in detail first time, applied Late Glacial sediments core SG06. This technique carried out alongside conventional counting by thin-section microscopy ( Schlolaut et al., 2012 ). dual allows comparison results from two independent methods on metre sub-mm scales, enabling identification characterisation differences between techniques, quantification their weaknesses. Combining produces more robust chronology than either method could produce alone. reliability is demonstrated combined with dataset SG06, calibrated tree-ring derived section IntCal09.
