摘要: The molecular and cellular mechanisms responsible for schizophrenic psychosis are far from being understood. Imbalance of neurotransmitters, particularly the dopaminergic system, accounting often dramatic clinical features, has been uncovered is successfully repressed by dopamine antagonists [5, 26]. Other neurotransmitter systems affected as well caused profound neuronal dysfunction due to neurodevelopmental/neurodegenerative dysregulation also detectable in less spectacular therefore initially ignored symptoms [36, 38]. In fact, a remarkable worsening cognitive/mental performance can be observed during early episodes [20, 36], supporting concept major damage occurring at that time.
