摘要: Female green anoles, Anolis carolinensis, were paired in terraria to investigate behavioral components of social interaction. Resources (perching sites, prey, and males as potential mates) limited assess their importance cohabiting females. During interaction, females exhibited aggressive behavior which contributed the development dominant-subordinate relationships. Dominant status its relationship differential resource acquisition was defined primarily by frequency displacement another female. Along with displacement, dominant also had increased assertion displays, challenge attacks biting (Figs 1 & 2). Subordinate displaced more often assumed submissive postures. No differences found between subordinate for perch site selection, body color or prey capturing latency success 3 4). Perch elevation not different females, but significantly lower than males. The unless present, case darker. Paired respond differently courtship display (Fig. 5). responded displays male courtship, indicating receptivity. role relationships among female A. carolinensis may include reproductive an important component, consequences outcome interactions
