摘要: Although several research groups have studied the formation of H2 on interstellar dust grains using surface science techniques, few explored more complex molecules. A small number these reactions produce molecules that remain and, over time, lead to icy mantles. The most abundant species within ice is H2O and particular interest as observed molecular abundance cannot be accounted for gas-phase chemistry alone. This article provides a brief introduction astronomical implications motivations behind this requirement new dual atomic beam ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) system. Further details apparatus design, characterisation, calibration system are provided along with preliminary data from O O2 dosing bare silica substrate subsequent temperature programmed desorption measurements. results obtained in ongoing may enable chemically accurate mechanisms deduced other before simulating kinetic under conditions.
