The third-order optical nonlinearity of C 60 and biphenyl derivatives

摘要: Abstract C60 biphenyl derivatives were synthesized, and their structures characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR FD-MS. It was found that the products are mixture of C60(biphenyl)x C60(biphenyl)xC60, x=3–7. The molecular images C60(biphenyl)xC60 directly observed scanning tunneling microscope. Z-scan technique used to measure third-order optical nonlinearity derivatives; χ (3) =2.3×10 −5 esu .
