Alcohol Experiences and Concerns of Newly Arrived Migrant Women

摘要: Migrant women are under-represented as users of alcohol and other drug (AOD) services. This study examined AOD use by newly arrived women, identifying issues concern to them. A questionnaire-based survey was conducted with 268 migrant who had in Perth, Western Australia, within the previous 5 years. Almost half were humanitarian entrants. Most (76%) reported they did not drink alcohol. Of those did, 10 drinking at harmful levels over changes their patterns since arrival. One fifth participants (20%) described distressing incidents related or others. concerned alcoholand drug-related problems, even if do themselves. Domestic violence abuse strangers concerns that aggravated use. As new migrants often lack strategies prevent, deal alcohol-related misuse, provision additional information support is recommended.
