Magnon‐Assisted Chromium Emission in YCrO3, LuCrO3, and GdCrO3

摘要: Measurements have been made of the absorption and fluorescence spectrum Cr3+ in orthorhombic YCrO3, LuCrO3, GdCrO3. We observe several very sharp emission lines at energies about 100 cm−1 lower than intrinsic 4A2 to 2E absorption, attribute impurity‐perturbed ions. Intrinsic was not observed. Magnon sideband is found energy results simultaneous optical de‐excitation a perturbed ion creation magnon on neighboring lattice site. The spin allowed if photon are created same sublattice, has electric dipole polarization. Analysis line shape shows nearest‐neighbor exchange interaction between pairs along c axis, plane perpendicular axis equal. value J averaged over six nearest neighbors 22.1, 17.6, 25.5 for Y, Lu, Gd chromites, respectively.
