Magnetic interactions in gadolinium orthochromite, GdCrO3

摘要: The magnetic properties of the distorted perovskite GdCrO3 have been investigated by moment measurements in temperature range below 100K and specific heat 10K. Measurements show that canting Cr3+ ions from a simple antiferromagnetic alignment is due to antisymmetric exchange coupling between Cr ions. value weak ferromagnetic Fz 400 emu mol-1. interaction Gd3+ produces an effective field at Gd sites 5.5 kOe, acting opposite direction Fz. At approximately 7K Cr-Gd sufficient cause system undergo spontaneous spin reorientation GxFz GzFx mod. 2.3K bring about co-operative transition state.
