Inverted papilloma: A report of 112 cases

摘要: Inverted papilloma is a benign sinonasal tumor which locally aggressive and has significant malignant potential. This report updates the experience of two senior authors, who have treated 112 patients with inverted at Mount Sinai Medical Center over 20-year period. As clinical examination often underestimates extent, preoperative radiographic assessment paramount importance in guiding selection surgical therapy. Complete en bloc excision via lateral rhinotomy medial maxillectomy was method treatment majority (84%). In selected limited disease, or refused excision, conservative therapy employing intranasal transantral ethmoidectomy performed. The recurrence rates for groups were 14% 20%, respectively. Recurrent disease developed throughout paranasal sinuses, maxillary antrum ethmoid labyrinth constituting major sites. presenting anterior skull base erosion, craniofacial resection undertaken to eradicate disease. latter cases underscore nature if left untreated. overall rate squamous carcinoma this series 5%.
