摘要: Inverted papilloma (IP) is a proliferative lesion of the epithelium lining sinonasal tract. Although IP often recurs after surgical excision and sometimes associated with squamous cell carcinoma cavity (SNSCC), its presumed neoplastic nature putative role as precursor to have not been confirmed at molecular genetic level. We analyzed pattern X chromosome inactivation in IPs from nine female patients. Inactivation single allele seen monoclonal proliferations may be indicative process. also 28 6 concurrent SNSCCs for loss heterozygosity (LOH) on chromosomal arms 3p, 9p21, 11q13, 13q11, 17p13. Losses these loci occur frequently during transformation upper respiratory tract can detected carcinomas progenitor lesions which they arise. analysis was informative four IPs. All demonstrated inactivation. LOH any nondysplastic areas IPs, but one or more present all six SNSCCs. conclude that are proliferations, yet do fit profile prototypic lesion. Unlike epithelial dysplasia, routinely harbor several key alterations malignant
