摘要: The establishment of gypsicolous vegetation high conservation value on land impacted by quarrying requires restoration measures to overcome constraints imposed the new landforms created in process. aim this study was assess suitability three standard hydroseeding methods restore quarry spoil slopes under a dry Mediterranean climate. treatments were as follows: paper cellulose mulch, mulch + organic blanket, and wood fibre compared against control. These tested two (10–15% vs 60–65%) contrasting aspects (north south). We evaluated cover all plant species 2·8 years after treatment, assessing both target non-target species. Our results showed strong compositional differences between hydroseeded control plots. Control plots had low with composed early-successional that potential hinder over time. All improved cover, performing best most situations studied here, alternatives being cheaper but less effective mulch shallow slopes, or more expensive mulch + blanket steep case erosion risk. Shallow southern-steep suitable for recovery gypsum hydroseeding, northern-steep where developed readily outcompeting will help guide management decisions disturbed habitats.
