摘要: Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and presenilin (PSEN) 1 2 genes are regulated during development as well in pathological conditions associated to hypoxia. In this study, we investigated their patterns of expression the first weeks postnatal life a rat model moderate global perinatal asphyxia that have previously reported be characterized by early oxidative stress delayed behavioral alterations. hippocampus, induced an up-regulation COX-2 mRNA (postnatal day, pnd, 1), which preceded those PSEN genes, observed at pnd 4. At 11, all three was decreased compared control animals. addition, analyzed scavenging enzymes catalase, copper/zinc- manganese-superoxide dismutase. As for COX-2, were up-regulated hippocampus returned or below baseline cortex, only showed followed down-regulation 11. These findings suggest hypoxic episodes with dysregulation several involved brain anti-oxidant defenses, follows rapid transient stress. Such alterations particularly evident could represent adaptive response condition. The set ground damage further support potential benefit treatments short therapeutic window soon after birth.
