摘要: It is well known that infestation only one of a number factors which determine the amount wireworm damage occurring in field. As an attempt to analyse conditions under crops fail from wireworms, thirteen fields showing both damaged and undamaged areas were studied. Data collected on populations, chemical mechanical composition soil, feeding reactions wireworms collected, agricultural history treatment different plots fields. In six did coincide with higher infestation. remainder, failures occurred at low no marked differences population could be detected between failing successful plots. The levels varied wide limits Two edaphic investigated associated consistently plots; CaCO3 was sand content lower Differences these particularly noticeable those where not detected. There suggestion four attack commonly follows sainfoin. None other showed significant relationships. Although results suggest or more factors, infestation, sand, are within fields, cannot explained so simply. Evidently, relatively uniform single but varying field field, also influence damage. Consideration relation plant populations brings out need for greater attention role activity environmental it. importance reliable methods predicting any control stressed.
