摘要: Tannins, a large and diverse group of phenolic secondary metabolites, are common in terrestrial plants marine brown algae. It is sometimes desirable to remove the tannins from plant or algal extracts, e.g., when isolating enzymes nucleic acids, using certain colorimetric methods quantify tannin content, create reliable controls experimental studies. Insoluble polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) can be used specifically solution. In present study, we evaluated effect different factors (amount PVPP, number PVPP treatments, type solvent, pH, incubation time) on removal dissolved phlorotannins. Our results imply that there limited amount phlorotannins bind given it preferable use low quantities repeatedly, compared fewer treatments with high PVPP. Furthermore, found no consistent due solvent (acetone, methanol, distilled water filtered seawater). There was slight decrease removed extracts increasing pH repeatedly treated All were ≤6.2, 89% initial phlorotannin content at 9.7. These previous methodological studies implications analytical ecological investigations discussed.
