摘要: The structure of the stable decagonal quasicrystal Al70.5Mn16.5Pd13 was determined by single-crystal X-ray methods. Higher-dimensional structure-solution techniques were employed, such as five-dimensional (5D) Patterson and Fourier syntheses well 5D least-squares refinements. A 3D physical-space maximum-entropy method (MEM) used in course structure-factor phasing for calculation a high-quality electron-density distribution function. Geometrically, may be described periodic stacking two different quasiperiodic layers (puckered +or-0.3 AA) B (planar) with sequence ABAaba (a b denote B, respectively, rotated 2 pi /10), consistent centrosymmetric superspace group P105/mmc. Basic structure-building elements, however, are columnar clusters (OE approximately 20 cross-sections corresponding to parts decorated Penrose tiling. packed way that results disordered Robinson-triangle title compound is isotypic metastable Al78Mn22 locally shows strong resemblance icosahedral Al68.7Mn9.6Pd21.7, orthorhombic Al3Mn hexagonal mu -Al4.12Mn.
