摘要: Article history: Received 18 July 2014 Objective: To know the impact of Piper betel leaf stalk (P. betel) extract on Protein and energy metabolism its role in male albino rats. Methods: Healthy adult (3-4 months old) Wistar strain rats were administered with extract, at dose 50 mg/ kg/day through oral gavages for 15 days. Twenty four hours after last dose, animals autopsied. In order to assess antifertility effect testis, epididymis, seminal vesicle prostate gland, estimation total, soluble structural proteins, free amino acids DNA, RNA undertaken. Results: The accumulation proteins indicates anti-androgenic extract. reduction will affect sertoli cell function, results damage spermatogenesis. significant elevation testicular DNA content (hyperplasia) was observed. present study, P. decreases concentration RNA, testes, gland except epididymis where it elevated. It alterations rate protein synthesis growth tissues due administration extraction. However, RNA: ratio reduced prostate. Conclusions: exert anti androgenic by cellular hypertrophy occur
