Review of the Pathophysiology and Management of Postoperative Ileus

摘要: Investigations in the pathophysiology and treatment of postoperative ileus continue to evolve. Bowel rest is no longer a mandatory component recovery. Tolerance enteral nutrition normalization abdominal examination are more accurate indications resolution than passage flatus or first bowel movement. A multimodal "fast track" recovery approach incorporated into clinical pathway provides rapid return intestinal function shortened hospital stay patients undergoing major, uncomplicated gastrointestinal surgery.
