摘要: Dr. Charles Hufnagel, a brilliant Georgetown surgeon, started the golden chapter in history of heart valve replacement by implanting first mechanical human patient on September 11th, 1952. Hufnagel placed his prosthesis descending thoracic aorta with severe aortic regurgitation. Lefrak and Starr described successful implantation as: ‘‘igniting fire prosthetic implantation’’ [1].
