Evaluation of the BinaxNOW® Streptococcus Pneumoniae Antigen Test on Fresh, Frozen and Concentrated Urine Samples in Elderly Patients With and Without Community-Acquired Pneumonia

摘要: We evaluated the BinaxNOW® urine antigen test in elderly. For fresh un-concentrated samples, sensitivity for pneumococcal pneumonia was 63% and specificity 97%. After freezing concentration, results comparable to positive control line intensity at 60 min gave high (81%) with no loss (96%).
