摘要: The wavenumber spectra of wind kinetic energy over the ocean from Quick Scatterometer (QuikSCAT) observations have revealed complex spatial variability in wavelength range 1000‐3000 km, with spectral slopes varying 21.6 to 22.9. Here authors performed a analysis QuikSCAT winds global and found that (i) become steeper toward Poles Pacificandin South Atlantic, and theslopes exhibitminimallongitudinaldependencein SouthPacific; (ii) thesteepestslopesare inthe tropical IndianOcean andthe shallowest slopesarein thetropicalPacificand Atlantic; (iii) are winter than summer most regions midlatitude Northern Hemisphere.Thenewfindingsreportedinthepaperprovideatestbedfortheoreticalstudiesandatmospheric general circulation models.
