摘要: Ports and harbors may represent a threat for coastal ecosystems due to pollutant inputs, especially those derived from maritime activities. In this study, we report first assessment of the ecotoxicological posed by six ports opposite regions, Apulia Albania, in southern Adriatic Sea (Italy). A bioassay battery consisting four different species representing trophic levels, algae Dunaliella tertiolecta, bacteria Vibrio fischeri, crustacean Artemia salina, echinoids Paracentrotus lividus, has been used assess sediment elutriates, pore waters, suspensions. Two approaches toxicity data integration, worst case integrated index, have determine most appropriate procedure investigated sites. All sites with approach showed high levels. The chronic test was sensitive identifying highest effects battery. This effect can be attributable contaminants antifouling paints. sediments, evaluated V. fischeri test, often not found aqueous matrices same that mainly linked organic compounds. study allowed us perform preliminary screening risk studied area. fact, utilized tests responded differently samples, showing sensitivity. index did allow highlighting differences among general risk. larger number higher sensitivity together tailored attribution weights endpoints will improve final site evaluation.
