摘要: Recent evidence suggests that a dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) polymorphism may play role in determining an individual's predisposition to developing nicotine dependence. The mechanism for such association reflect nicotine's mediation of drug reward the brain through actions on dopamine, key mediator reward. Because schizophrenia patients have usually high rates use, they are model group study association. In this study, we hypothesized functional DBH (D beta H5'-Ins/Del) was associated with smoking schizophrenia. This genotyped 636 chronic male (smoker/nonsmoker=490/146) and 396 controls (smoker/nonsmoker=231/165) using case-control design. cigarettes smoked per day (CPD) behaviors were evaluated by clinician-administered questionnaires Fagerstrom Test Nicotine Dependence (FTND). results showed no significant differences 5'-Ins/Del genotype allele distributions between healthy or smokers nonsmokers either alone. However, schizophrenic Del fewer each had lower FTND score than those Ins/Ins genotype. These suggest influence severity among smokers. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
