Molecular orbital effects on resonant photoemission from Ti2O3 and V2O3

摘要: We report the observation of a pronounced effect molecular orbital structure Ti2O3 and V2O3 single crystals on intensity electrons resonantly photoemitted from cation 3d states as photon energy is swept through 3p → optical absorption edge. When resonance measured in an angle resolved mode with detector pointing along direction occupied axis Ti2O3, emission maximises at energies close to onset resonance; when oriented off resonant found maximise almost 10 eV higher. While not exhibiting this angular effect, O 2p increases by factor two upon sweeping Ti edge; large increase inexplicable terms d-state hybridisation band Ti2O3. A much smaller seen V2O3.
