Instantaneous Microwave Frequency Measurement Based on Amplified Fiber-Optic Recirculating Delay Loop and BroadBand Incoherent Light Source

摘要: A novel approach to implementing instantaneous frequency measurement (IFM) based on an amplified fiber-optic recirculating delay loop and a broadband incoherent light source (ILS) is proposed, analyzed, experimentally demonstrated. Since the semiconductor optical amplifier-based has infinite impulse response that varies from large positive value negative infinity log scale, unique relationship between output power, of input continuous-wave (CW) microwave signal established. Meanwhile, it shown use ILS can greatly improve stability proposed IFM system. When power CW within range -7 dBm -16 dBm, measured errors remain ±400 KHz over 6.94-6.958 GHz. The error, complexity cost system be considerably reduced by only using one ILS, modulator, photodetector. capability integration, theoretically estimated extended 20 GHz with resolution 1.36 dB/GHz.
